Fasten off leaving long tail
This forms a curved oval; pin it over the front-lower half of the head (covering where the face would be) and sew around the edge with gray yarn for trim

Stuff firmly

Fasten off, close hole, sew to head

Backpack (gray, attach to back of body)

Round 2: inc around (12)
Rounds 3-5: sc around (12)
Round 6: dec around (6)
Stuff lightly, sew flat side to back of body
Optional: add two small chain “hose” pieces connecting backpack to helmet sides

Arms (white, make 2)

Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
Rounds 2-8: sc around (6) — 7 rounds
Stuff lightly, flatten end and sc closed
Add gray cuff: sc 1 round in gray at open end before closing
Sew to sides of body at slight outward angle

Legs (white, make 2)

Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
Round 2: inc around (12)
Rounds 3-8: sc around (12) — 6 rounds
Round 9: dec around — switch to gray for boot, sc 2 rounds even (6)
Stuff firmly, flatten and sc closed
Sew to bottom of body

Gloves & Boots (gray)

Worked as the final 2 rounds of arms/legs in gray yarn (as noted above) for contrast

Finishing Details

Embroider or appliqué small flag patch (red/blue felt or yarn) on chest
Add silver star sequins or small embroidered stars near collar
If using safety eyes, place them on the head before sewing visor over them so they peek through
