Amigurumi Owl Tutorial
Materials
- Brown or gray yarn (body, wings)
- Cream/tan yarn (face, belly)
- Yellow/orange yarn (beak, feet)
- Small amounts of white and black yarn (eyes)
- 3.5mm crochet hook
- Stuffing
- Yarn needle
- Felt or safety eyes for pupils (optional)
Body & Head (worked as one piece, bottom-up, brown)
- Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
- Round 2: inc in each st (12)
- Round 3: sc, inc repeat (18)
- Round 4: sc 2, inc repeat (24)
- Round 5: sc 3, inc repeat (30)
- Round 6: sc 4, inc repeat (36)
- Rounds 7-18: sc around (36) — 12 rounds even (this forms the tall rounded owl body/head shape)
- Round 19: sc 4, dec repeat (30)
- Round 20: sc 3, dec repeat (24)
- Round 21: sc 2, dec repeat (18)
- Stuff firmly as you go
- Round 22: sc, dec repeat (12)
- Round 23: dec around (6)
- Fasten off, close hole

Face Patch (cream)
- Ch 2, work a wide oval in rows: 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, inc each end every other row up to about 14 sts wide, work even 4-5 rows, then dec back down
- Sew onto the upper-front of the body as the face area
Eyes (white circles + black pupils, make 2)
- White: Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6); Round 2: inc around (12) — flatten
- Black: smaller circle, Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6) — flatten
- Sew black circle onto center of white circle, then sew both eyes onto face patch close together (owls have forward-facing eyes)
Beak (orange/yellow)
- Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
- Round 2: inc around (12)
- Flatten into a triangle fold, sc across to close
- Sew between and below the eyes
Wings (brown, make 2)
- Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
- Round 2: inc around (12)
- Round 3: sc, inc repeat (18)
- Rounds 4-7: sc around (18) — 4 rounds
- Flatten and sc closed
- Sew to sides of body, angled to curve slightly forward
Ear Tufts (brown, make 2)
- Round 1: 5 sc in magic ring (5)
- Rounds 2-3: sc around (5) — 2 rounds
- Flatten and sc closed
- Sew to top of head, angled outward like little horns
Feet (orange/yellow, make 2)
- Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
- Round 2: inc around (12)
- Rounds 3-4: sc around (12)
- Flatten into oval, sc closed
- Embroider 3 small toe lines with darker thread
- Sew to bottom of body so owl stands/sits
Belly Detail (optional, cream)
- Add a few rows of surface crochet or embroidered chevron/V-shapes in cream and brown alternating down the lower body for a feathered texture
Finishing
- Weave in all ends
- Optional: add tiny felt or embroidered “fluff” texture lines on the wings and ear tufts for extra dimension
