Amigurumi Bunny in a Teacup Tutorial

Materials

  • White or cream yarn (bunny body)
  • Pink yarn (ears inner, nose, cheeks)
  • Light blue or pastel yarn (teacup)
  • White yarn (teacup rim/saucer accent, optional)
  • 3.5mm crochet hook
  • Stuffing
  • Safety eyes
  • Yarn needle
  • Small amount of pink felt (optional, for inner ears)

Head (white)

  • Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
  • Round 2: inc in each st (12)
  • Round 3: sc, inc repeat (18)
  • Round 4: sc 2, inc repeat (24)
  • Round 5: sc 3, inc repeat (30)
  • Rounds 6-10: sc around (30) — 5 rounds even
  • Insert safety eyes around round 7, spaced 7-8 sts apart
  • Round 11: sc 3, dec repeat (24)
  • Round 12: sc 2, dec repeat (18)
  • Stuff firmly
  • Round 13: sc, dec repeat (12)
  • Round 14: dec around (6)
  • Fasten off, close hole

Ears (white, make 2)

  • Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
  • Round 2: inc around (12)
  • Round 3: sc, inc repeat (18)
  • Rounds 4-8: sc around (18) — 5 rounds
  • Flatten and sc across to close
  • Sew small pink felt oval or pink yarn embroidery inside each ear
  • Sew ears to top of head, slightly tilted

Body (white) — small, since bunny sits in teacup

  • Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
  • Round 2: inc around (12)
  • Round 3: sc, inc repeat (18)
  • Rounds 4-7: sc around (18) — 4 rounds
  • Round 8: sc, dec repeat (12)
  • Stuff firmly
  • Round 9: dec around (6)
  • Fasten off, close hole, sew to head

Arms (white, make 2)

  • Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
  • Rounds 2-5: sc around (6) — 4 rounds
  • Stuff lightly, flatten and sc closed
  • Sew to sides of body

Legs/Feet (white, make 2) — small, tucked into cup

  • Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
  • Round 2: inc around (12)
  • Rounds 3-4: sc around (12)
  • Flatten and sc closed
  • Sew to bottom of body

Tail (white, small pom-pom style)

  • Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
  • Round 2: inc around (12)
  • Round 3: sc around (12)
  • Stuff firmly, sc closed, sew to back of body

Teacup (light blue/pastel)

  • Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
  • Round 2: inc around (12)
  • Round 3: sc, inc repeat (18)
  • Round 4: sc 2, inc repeat (24)
  • Rounds 5-8: sc around (24) — 4 rounds (this forms the cup walls)
  • Fasten off

Teacup Handle (light blue)

  • Ch 8, sc back across chain (7 sc)
  • Fold into a small loop/handle shape and sew to side of cup

Saucer (white or pastel, optional)

  • Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
  • Round 2: inc around (12)
  • Round 3: sc, inc repeat (18)
  • Round 4: sc 2, inc repeat (24)
  • Round 5: sc 3, inc repeat (30)
  • Fasten off — lay flat as a base for the teacup

Finishing

  • Embroider small pink nose and whiskers with pink/white thread
  • Add pink cheek blush with light pink yarn or fabric marker
  • Place stuffing in bottom of teacup if needed so bunny sits at the right height, then nestle bunny inside
  • Glue or sew teacup onto saucer
